A letter from our Principal. . . .
North Bend Elementary School has successfully served the students and families of the Jarrettsville community since it first opened its doors in September of 1991. For the past fifteen years the school's staff has been enthusiastically working together with the families of the North Bend Community to meet the individual needs of the whole child. Our common goal is to instill in children a love of learning that fosters an appreciation of their environment and their place in the world. We consider ourselves "A community of life-long learners."
A strong sense of community and school pride have long since been a part of the NBES tradition. The staff and parents are committed to providing an inviting, supportive, challenging and enjoyable school environment for all learners. The school's highly accomplished and dedicated staff combined with children who are ready to learn, a very active PTA, and a strong volunteer program result in quality learning opportunities for each and every child.

Assistant Principal Susan Gebhart, Lead Secretary Sharon Mitchell, Secretary Tana Hayes, and Principal Steven Hardy welcome you to North Harford Elementary School. |
NBES staff is committed to providing a quality instructional program designed to challenge the potential we know exists in all children. We have intentionally planned our instructional program to meet the individual needs of all learners. The school offers a Child Find Program, "Earobics" Program for first graders, reading intervention, a strong school-wide Enrichment Program, and special education services to best meet the needs of each child attending our school.
Technology is an integral component of daily instruction for our students.. The use of computers in the classroom, the media center, and in the school's Technology Lab have provided our students with integrated technology tools in meeting academic and educational standards. In addition, North Bend is a Governor's "Green School" and participated in a three year grant as a "Bay School" with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.
The school improvement plan serves to improve student achievement and to provide students with Character Education through a well-developed and implemented "Character for Life" program. Major objectives include using data to individualize each child's educational program, close any achievement gaps, Character Education and creating students who have a life-long interest in learning. There is a passion for teaching and learning at North Bend Elementary. As a school family, we expect continued progress and success for all students as we work as members of various Professional Learning Communities. This expectation has become both tradition and a culture for excellence within our school.
