Early Intervention Program

Regional Early Intervention classrooms (designed to meet the needs of students with moderate to severe delays in cognition, social interaction, communication, and behavior) are found throughout the county. North Bend is the regional site for the Early Intervention program for children whose home schools are North Bend Elementary, Jarrettsville Elementary, North Harford Elementary, Norrisville Elementary, and Youth’s Benefit Elementary schools. Our Early Intervention classroom is staffed with a special education teacher, a paraeducator, and currently one inclusion helper. The students (who are 3-5 years old) attend either an AM or a PM session for either 2, 3, or 4 days a week. While in school, the students also receive related services such as speech-language therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, vision or hearing services. The main goal of the Early Intervention program is to expose the students to pre-school curriculum and prepare them for the Kindergarten classroom.
