Who Is The School Psychologist
- My name is Tammy Webb. I have been a school psychologist with Harford County Public Schools for seven years. School psychologists receive training in mental health, child development, learning, and behavior. I provide services at North Bend, Darlington and Churchville Elementary Schools. Prior to being a school psychologist, I was a middle school science and math teacher at Deer Park Middle School in Baltimore County.

What Is The Role Of A School Psychologist
- School psychologists may assume many different roles depending upon the needs of children. Core services that are provided include:
- Consultation with teachers, parents and administrators to address student needs and improve school support programs, assessment,
- Assessment of students for the purpose of developing appropriate educational programming,
- Direct intervention with school staff and students to enhance the educational environment,
- Recommending outside resources to families.

The National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) offers a “Success in School/Skills for Life” Online Resource Kit to provide parents with basic information about a child’s academic, emotional and social development. Handouts are free and may be downloaded at NASP Center. The topics available change frequently throughout the school year. Here are links to a few NASP pages that may be helpful to parents:

Another recommended website is Parenting-Ed. This site, organized by the Center for Effective Learning offers a myriad of resources for parents on creating strong, healthy families. Some of the sections are Family Fun, Parent Education, and Teacher Resources.
